After a losing in a three-match series against South Africa, Australian cricket player Peter Siddle faced heavy criticism from players insisting his plant-based diet was to blame for his slow performance and that his fatigue comes from a lack of meat-protein consumption. Denying the claims, Siddle insists his game has improved since becoming a vegetarian, telling ESPN, “I’m probably in a better place than I ever was. For people to say that’s the problem and that’s the reason why [I withdrew], they’re the ones kidding themselves.” The pacer also revealed that his withdraw had to do with being focused on upcoming matches and tours to India and England. Texans running back Arian Foster faced similar criticism and widespread media attention after announcing he had adopted a plant-based diet earlier this year.
