A Minnesota food supplier is recalling cooked eggs from 34 states due to the possibility of listeria contamination. Michael Foods, which processes the most eggs worldwide, is recalling 10- and 25-pound pails of hard-cooked eggs that were distributed for institutional use under various brand names. Though the US Food and Drug Administration says there have been no reported illnesses linked to the eggs, Michael Foods is withdrawing the products as a precautionary measure due to their potential to sicken individuals with weak immune systems. The company has identified the likely source of the contamination as a repair project in the packaging room of its Wakefield, NE location.
