East Anglian Pig Company, the UK’s third-largest pork supplier, has come under fire this week following an undercover investigation into two of its Norfolk farm facilities. International nonprofit Animal Equality released a video Sunday revealing the abuse and violent slaughter of pigs at The Piggery and Little Thorns farm—formerly designated as humane by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The footage, captured between December 2011 and January 2012, shows pigs being brutally hit, kicked, and thrown, as well as having their heads bashed in with blunt objects and slammed against the floor. A representative from RSPCA’s Freedom Food division says the organization has revoked the farm’s humane certification, calling the practices depicted in the video “absolutely unacceptable.”
