Recently, animal welfare nonprofits The Humane League and Farm Sanctuary set out to test how effective leafleting is. Thousands of Farm Sanctuary’s Something Better and Vegan Outreach’s Compassionate Choices leaflets were passed out at University of Delaware and University of Maryland, with the mission of changing students’ views on eating meat. Two months later, THL passed out almost 500 surveys, and found that for every two leaflets handed out, at least one animal was saved, and one out of every 50 people who received the leaflet became vegetarian or pescatarian.
