Health.com editor Cynthia Sass recently wrote a piece for ABC News, touting the benefits of a meat-free diet and the powerful proclivities of plant-based foods. Sass notes vegetarianism’s ability to bolster weight loss and improve overall health, citing her own experiences as a registered dietician. “I’ve seen immediate improvements among my clients in cholesterol profiles, blood pressure, blood sugar levels, immunity, and digestive health,” she writes. “Many have also reported fewer aches and pains, likely due to the anti-inflammatory effect of consuming more plant foods.” Sass also notes that eating more fruits and vegetables can improve circulation and alter skin pigment for a better complexion, and reports that plant-based foods have also been shown to increase libido for a healthier sex life.
