Unappetizing Image of Frozen McRib Goes Viral
A Reddit picture of McDonald’s ever-popular menu item is more stomach churning than mouthwatering.
November 17, 2013
Recently, a user posted a picture of a frozen McDonald’s McRib that his friend, who is an employee of the fast food chain, took. The tentative menu item is enthusiastically hailed by fast food diners, but the image, which depicts an unflattering white serrated brick, is a stark contrast to the barbecue-slathered piece of meat the international food chain promotes. The picture went viral after being posted, garnering thousands of comments and receiving coverage from numerous media outlets including Medical Daily and ABC News. While the McDonald’s public relations department attempted damage control, they couldn’t cover up the press exposing the McRib’s nutritional information: nearly 500 calories, 26 grams of fat, 980 milligrams of sodium, and 11 grams of sugar.
