Beyond Eggs recently received financial backing by venture capitalists, sparking excitement at the possibility of moving away from factory farming and toward sustainable, plant-based food. Motherboard, an online tech publication launched by the popular Vice Magazine, featured Beyond Eggs in a recent article, laying out the ethical, environmental, and health benefits of vegan eggs––and calling them better than their hen-born counterparts. According to Motherboard, Beyond Eggs experimented with 344 prototypes from 287 plants before landing on the pea, canola, and sunflower lecithin-based formula it’s perfecting now. In a taste test, Bill Gates couldn’t tell the difference between conventional eggs and the cholesterol, gluten, and cruelty-free eggs. Once released, Beyond Eggs will be 19-percent cheaper than chicken eggs.
