Washington Post Immortalizes “Fox Guy” in Ink

Walt Rave, a Vietnam veteran known for walking around Maryland’s Takoma Park swinging a fox pelt on a chain, was recently eulogized in a Washington Post cartoon. Rave was a painter, a tree surgeon, tool-library worker, nude model, and postal clerk, but he made his life’s mission defending animals. “Fox Guy,” a vegan who hung out with the future founders of PETA, defended activists in jail cells and befriends cops at animals-rights protests. He was hospitalized and passed away after he tried to rescue his six cats from his burning house. Also lost in the fire was Fox Guy’s map of the universe painted on his porch ceiling, in it the stars were worlds “Where No Animals Were Suffering.”
