This week, dietician Janel Funk took to the Food Network’s “Healthy Eats” blog and listed items every cruelty-free pantry should have on its shelves. From simple staples such as whole grains to the freezer-ubiquitous frozen vegetables, Funk tackles the questions of what should be kept readily on hand and how to use it to throw together a quick but healthy plant-based meal. For grains, she suggests branching out and giving farro, wheat berries, or bulgur a try. As for condiments, Funk recommends homemade dressings and sauces––line your pantry with basic spices, herbs, and oils to make various toppings and dips. Canned beans and coconut milk, dried fruit, and quinoa flour round out her list.
