Beyond Meat’s CEO and founder Ethan Brown was recently featured at the Wired Business Conference in New York City, where he spoke about his entrepreneurial aspirations to make his faux-meat a permanent replacement to animal products. Brown, who has a team of food scientists working for him and the financial backing of Twitter co-founders Biz Stone and Evan Williams, noted that his product has all the qualities of chicken, and will prove to be superior to farm-raised food due to its ecological and economical benefits. Brown wants Beyond Meat out of the “penalty box” veg section of grocery stores, and behind the deli counter—he currently has his sights set on the nearly 90 million green-friendly “flexitarians” who have omnivore proclivities.
