Alanna Nuñez of Shape magazine recently interviewed Ethan Brown, the founder of vegan chicken maker Beyond Meat. The company made headlines earlier this month when Brown announced at the Wired Business Conference that Beyond Meat’s aim is to be housed in grocery store deli counters next to conventional protein––a sentiment he carries over into this interview as well. “We hope to be the Tyson [Foods] of plant-based products,” he tells Shape. The CEO goes on to address concerns of the use of soy in Beyond Meat products, explaining that the soy is not only GMO- and hormone-free, but is also the cleanest protein available. Beyond Meat’s vegan chicken currently comes in three flavors: Grilled, Lightly Seasoned, and Southwest-Style.
