Tennessee Ag-Gag Bill Killed by State Governor

Tennessee’s ag-gag bill was recently killed by Governor Bill Haslam. The proposed law would require undercover footage to be turned over to the police within 48 hours of recording it. Governor Haslam released a statement saying the bill would make prosecuting cases of animal cruelty more difficult. Thousands of calls and emails poured into the governor’s office urging him to veto the legislation, according to The Humane Society of the United States, and HSUS President and CEO Wayne Pacelle shares, “It’s the wrong policy to punish the person who exposes cruelty, instead of the person who perpetrates it. We are grateful to Governor Haslam for hearing the clear voice of Tennesseans and ending this debate so emphatically.”
