Sanctuary Offers Monetary Incentive to Visitors

California animal sanctuary Animal Place is offering a $5 incentive in hopes of enticing new visitors to take an hour-long tour of the 600-acre home to nearly 300 rescued farm animals. The sanctuary was founded in 1989 and is one of the biggest and longest-standing sanctuaries in the US, according to its website. Animal Place was given a $5,000 grant from a private foundation for the paid tours, and the organization believes if people met the animals that would have gone into their food, “people will make more intelligent and compassionate food choices,” the executive director Kim Sturla tells ABC’s News 10. The tours are lead by a guide Wednesdays through Saturday.
