An ag-industry trade group and a vegetarian-advocacy caucus agreed that the Washington DC cafeterias should include more plant-based options.

Last June the agriculture industry trade group Farm Animal Welfare Coalition prevented the Capitol Hill catering company Restaurant Associates from implementing Meatless Mondays in the Washington DC political office cafeterias. Recently though, the group has compromised with the Congressional Vegetarian Staff Associations (Veggie Caucus) to request that Restaurant Associates introduce more vegan options. According to Capitol Hill news source Roll Call, the veg-meal plan agreement between the FAWC and the CVSA took place via email and was solidified during a 15-minute meeting. “Our agenda hasn’t changed,” said Veggie Caucus president Adam Sarvana to Roll Call. “We want options and want to make sure people know [they’re] available.”
