Mercy For Animals campaign manager Eddie Garza recently appeared on Fox News Latino with hosts Carlos Anaya and Carlos Mayorga to educate viewers on the benefits of veganism. Garza, who grew up in Texas near the Mexican border, noted on the show that a growing number of people are embracing a meat-free diet as a way to combat the obesity epidemic and its myriad health detriments that currently affect many Latinos. Anaya testified to Garza’s claims, reporting that he lost 40 pounds after giving up animal products. Garza also dispelled the myth that preparing vegan meals is costly and time-consuming by presenting five-minute dishes from the MFA’s chooseveg.org guide, including a Tex-Mex burrito with black beans and hummus, a Tofurky and avocado sandwich, and a chocolate tart.
