Costa Rican Newspaper Gives Vegan Travel Tips
The Costa Rica Star provides insight on how to order cruelty-free options when touring the South American country.
August 26, 2013
Costa Rica’s diverse wildlife and animal-friendly political policies has made it a popular destination among vegetarians. The Costa Rica Star has made traveling to the South American destination even easier with a new online article that gives helpful tips on how to navigate local menus for meat-free options. The news source recommends learning food names in Spanish beforehand such as “Gallo pinto,” a white rice and bean dish, and “vegetales al vapor,” which means steamed vegetables. While some Costa Rican dishes may include meat or dairy, many can easily be veganized with a simple request. The Star also lists several restaurants, which specialize in plant-based fare that are renowned among vegan tourists, such as the Buddha Eyes Restaurant and the Pranamar Oceanfront Villas and Yoga Retreat.
