Pumpkin-flavored foods are an indelible part of autumn, and Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Lattes are a fall favorite among coffee enthusiasts. But vegans cannot indulge in the popular beverage because the flavor syrup in the drink contains condensed milk. A vegan from Ferndale, MI is attempting to appeal to the international coffee chain through an online petition on Change.org that asks Starbucks to make its Pumpkin Spice Lattes dairy-free. “After speaking with numerous other friends of mine from across the country,” writes Brent Caldwell, the petition author, “I have decided to start this petition to ask Starbucks to please change the ingredients of this beloved beverage so that all of their loyal patrons may enjoy it every autumn.” Currently, the digital appeal has more than 1,580 supporters and the story has piqued the interest of mainstream media sources such as Fox News.
