Comedian Sarah Silverman recently wrote an online obituary for her dog, Duck, who passed away earlier this month. In the heartfelt goodbye letter, Silverman, an outspoken animal-welfare advocate and vegetarian, talked about how she first met Duck at a no-kill shelter where he had been taken after he was found running through South Central Los Angeles with no tags. The star comedian recounted Duck’s mounting health problems throughout the 14 years they spent together, and described the day he passed away. She ended the obituary by referring to her canine companion as, “My longest relationship. My only experience of maternal love.
My constant companion.
My best friend.
 Duck.”
