Vegetarian Option Served at Buffalo Wing Festival
A green bean-based veggie buffalo wing made the roster at this year’s National Buffalo Chicken Wing Festival.
September 3, 2013
Every year Buffalo, New York hosts the National Buffalo Chicken Wing Festival to celebrate the food that the city gave birth to. This year, the annual convention had a meat-free addition—a veggie buffalo wing made from breaded green beans and paired with hummus, which was served at a tent sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield. The meatless wing’s creator, Steven Binks, a Buffalo chef and local television personality, told The Buffalo News that the hot sauce and gorgonzola ingredients he used to flavor the novel food item “typify what a Buffalo wing is,” which “gives it that chicken-y wing-type feel.”
