The day after Thanksgiving, also known as Black Friday, is one of the largest shopping days of the year, as stores everywhere offer discounted prices and specials to lure in bargain-hungry shoppers. In order to influence people to make compassionate choices in their holiday shopping, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is sponsoring Fur-Free Friday protests on Friday, November 28 in cities across North America. By speaking out, protesters are also hoping to influence designers to take fur out of fashion, for which 50 million animals are killed every year, PETA reports. Protests are taking place in cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Scottsdale, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Boston, Vancouver, and Toronto.
