As a way to instill healthy eating habits in its students, the Houston Independent School District enlisted actress Daniella Monet, star of the Nickelodeon network show Victorious, to be a spokeswoman for their Lean and Green Day project. Monet, who has been a vegetarian since five years old, visited the Gregory Lincoln Education Center last Monday to educate students about the benefits of vegetarianism and present her new poster and video campaign. “You know we are gradually moving in a direction that is more health conscious and this is a natural progression and I’m excited to be part of the initial stages of it, and kids seem excited,” said Monet. She seemed to inspire many of the students. “Daniella has encouraged me to try being a vegan,” said sixth-grader Kenedi Mckenzie to Houston news outlet KHOU.
