New Website Stands Up Against Ag-Gag Bills
A new website by Mercy For Animals rallies support to keep factory farm exposés legal.
May 6, 2015
With its new No Ag Gag website, animal organization Mercy For Animals (MFA) is mobilizing advocates to protect the public’s right to know how farmed animals are actually treated. In the past decade, undercover video exposés documenting animal suffering inside factory farms and slaughterhouses have shown people just how cruelly farmed animals are exploited. But rather than improve animal welfare practices or crack down on abusers who violate animal protection regulations, meat, dairy, and egg producers have taken another tack: promoting “ag-gag” laws that criminalize the recording and dissemination of animal cruelty images. MFA’s online initiative aims to educate the public and stand up against these industry-backed laws.
