Two thousand survey participants ranked dairy alternatives as their number-one “better for you” food choice. Conducted by vegan food company Earth Balance, the study revealed that more than half the participants have tried dairy-free foods such as milk, cheese, and yogurt, while 63 percent have sampled plant-based protein—with tofu, meatless burgers, and meatless hot dogs being most popular. Alternatives to meat and dairy are growing at a rapid pace, with the dairy-free industry set to reach $35 billion by 2024, while the meatless meat market is predicted to reach $5.2 billion by 2020.
