Mom always told you to eat your broccoli. Now, there’s no excuse, especially for cigarette smokers. Researchers found cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, and brussel sprouts possess a nutrient that prevents a common type of cancer found in smokers. According to the study, smokers cut their lung-cancer risk by 20 to 55 percent compared to those who didn’t eat the nutrient-dense veggies. For smokers who can’t nix the cancer-stick habit, it’s time to take mom’s advice and chow down.
