“Super” Tomatoes Hit Shelves

Regulars of the packed lunch crowd know that tomatoes can either be friend or foe to the lovable lunchbox. While it’s true that they make for a tasty addition to just about any sandwich, if left to sit for too long, they seep into the bread, making everything soggy and unappetizing. This may not be the case for much longer, though, thanks to the super non-leaking tomatoes that have already hit the market in Britain. The supermarket chain, Tesco, just released these Dutch-grown super-fruits, which allegedly only lose three percent of their moisture compared to an average tomato’s 12 percent. While it’s an interesting idea, we think we’ll stick with our organic heirlooms and assemble our sandwiches just before eating.
