As fierce as fashion can be, with new designers constantly creating outfits over which fashionistas drool, one former fashion statement is decidedly out. The fur has got to go. In recognition of this, Parsons The New School of Design is teaming up with The Humane Society of the United States to better educate its students about the materials they use. HSUS representatives will inform Parsons fashion design and fashion marketing students on animal cruelty, advertising and labeling issues, and environmental impacts, all in relation to fur usage. Simon Collins, dean of fashion for Parsons The New School of Design, wants students to recognize the global impact of the apparel industry as well as the mistreatment of animals.
