Factory Farm Map

Food & Water Watch (FWW), a non-profit organization that advocates for safe food and water, has produced a map that tracks the locations of factory farms in the US. “We wanted to illustrate something that people in rural America have known for a long time: family farms are being replaced by factory farms, and these facilities are overwhelming some regions of the country,” the group states on the map’s website. FWW is working toward a changed farm bill for 2012, one that seeks to take down large food monopolies, and insists that meatpackers pay farmers a fair wage in order to prevent them from having to transition to operating their business as a factory farm.
