Veronica Bosgraaf, the founder of Pure Bar, a line of raw, gluten-free, vegan snack bars, was featured in the article “7 Women Who Turned Food Into Careers” in the April 2011 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine. What began six years ago as a simple at-home way to make healthy snacks for her vegetarian daughter turned Bosgraaf into a local sensation. With the help of a manufacturing plant in Oregon and a full-page newspaper feature, Pure Bar became reality. Today, Bosgraaf’s organic combinations of dates, nuts, and cocoa powder can be found in health food stores nationwide. Available in flavors such as chocolate brownie, apple cinnamon, cherry cashew, and others, Bosgraaf’s kitchen experiment is now a successful vegan business.
