CEO Reflects on the State of Animal Cruelty

In a new blog post for The Huffington Post, Ocean Robbins, the CEO of Food Revolution Network, reports on the state of anti-animal cruelty progress in the United States. Robbins reflects on the great strides recently made in Australia, including supermarket chains Coles and Woolworths refusal to carry any pork and eggs sourced from animals kept in factory farms, cages, or gestation crates. In contrast, Robbins notes that roughly 60 to 70 percent of breeding pigs and 90 percent of egg-laying hens in the US are kept in crates too small for them to even turn around. Robbins also adds that a poll conducted by Lake Research partners found that 94 percent of Americans believe animals raised for food deserve a life free of abuse and cruelty and 71 percent support undercover investigative efforts.
