Produce Intake Lowers Risk of Breast Cancer
Micronutrients found in fruits and vegetables were found to cut chances of developing breast cancer.
December 10, 2012
The Huffington Post recently published an article on the benefits of consuming micronutrient-rich fruits and vegetables. Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School researchers reported that higher levels of carotenoids in women resulted in decreased chance in developing breast cancer. The researchers noted that carotenoids, which can be found in foods such as kale, carrots, and spinach, may be anticarcinogenic and help make for a stronger immune system. “Micronutrients found in brightly colored produce could play a part in protecting you from cancer…” Among the breast cancer-preventative fruits and vegetables featured in the article are garlic, berries, tomatoes, broccoli, and pomegranates.
