In response to a growing demand for information surrounding the veg lifestyle, the Vegetarian Resource Group has released the results of a new national survey detailing what vegans and vegetarians prefer to eat. The poll, conducted by the market-research firm Harris Interactive, used a sample of 2,030 participants, each of whom was surveyed by phone. Survey questions included scenarios about eating a veggie burger that had been cooked on the same grill as a meat patty, as well as about purchasing dishes containing leafy greens or whole foods. While vegans and vegetarians frequently agreed throughout the survey, their responses differed significantly on one point: 26 percent of vegetarians said they would purchase their favorite dessert even if it contained bone-char-filtered sugar, as opposed to only three percent of vegans.
