A Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Charlottesville, VA recently hosted a vegetarian food festival to raise money for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, reports NBC 29. The festival, which featured cuisine from Africa, Asia, and South America, was also meant to rally the community while exposing local residents to a diverse range of food options that inspired healthy living. “How can we incorporate health as well as help others and then bring people together?” says fundraiser coordinator Raquel Garcia to NBC. “And we thought of this vegetarian food fair. A lot of our members are vegetarian or vegan so we thought this would be a good way to incorporate all of that together.” According to the news source, the festival raised $1,000 dollars for the food bank, which will help provide meals for 4,000 people.
