Mark Tercek, the President and CEO of The Nature Conservancy and former managing director of Goldman Sachs, recently talked about the positive impact that veganism can have on the environment in an interview with Fortune magazine. When asked at the publication’s annual Brainstorm Green conference about what personal sustainable habits he practices, Tercek noted his plant-based diet. “I’m a committed vegan for various reasons,” he says. “If more people had vegetarian or vegan diets, especially in the developed world, the environmental impact would be significant. I sometimes wonder if environmentalists should make a bigger fuss over simple diet changes.” Besides leading a major eco-advocate organization, Tercek is the co-author of the best-selling book, Nature’s Fortune: How Business and Society Thrive by Investing in Nature.
