May 28, 2013
Meat-free for more than 20 years and a professional athlete with four championship rings, John Salley recently stopped by New York’s WPIX channel 11 news studio to talk about the benefits of veganism and promote his partnership with The Vegan Vine Wines. Debunking the myth that vegans don’t get enough protein and discussing his work with Congress to get plant-based options in schools through the Child Nutrition Act, the former NBA star makes the claim that children are naturally vegan but that it’s parents who introduce bad eating habits. Salley shares a few of his favorite nutrition-packed fruits and vegetables including avocados, pineapples, and onions, which he uses to flavor food in place of sugar, oil, and salt.
