Maggie Baird is multi-talented. Throughout her life, she has worked as an actor, theater teacher, musician, and screenwriter. In recent years, however, she has focused more on activism and community outreach. A decades-long vegan, Baird is particularly passionate about encouraging more people to adopt plant-based diets. In 2027, US audiences will see more of that passion in a new public media series, Climate Kitchen.
The series will see Baird cooking, sharing recipes, traveling the country, and meeting with activists, bestselling authors, and climate experts. It is produced by Support+Feed—the food security and climate justice nonprofit Baird founded during the COVID-19 pandemic—alongside Atlas Films and WETA, the leading PBS member station in Washington, D.C.

Climate Kitchen will also feature appearances from Martha Stewart and Blue Zones expert Dan Buettner, as well as Baird’s two children, renowned musicians Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell. The series aims to show viewers how to incorporate climate-friendly food and recipes into their everyday lives without breaking the bank or sacrificing flavor.
“I am excited to work with WETA to address a critical issue of our time: finding ways to live more responsibly and being a steward of the natural world that surrounds us,” Baird said.
“Plant-based food is not the only solution to climate change, but there is no solution without it.”
“Living a more sustainable, earth-friendly lifestyle can seem all-or-nothing, overwhelming, and expensive,” she continued. “Climate Kitchen is about embracing progress over perfection, debunking the myths around affordability and investment of time, and showing how small, simple behavior shifts can build toward lasting difference in our own health and the health of our planet.”

Maggie Baird and Billie Eilish lead the conversation on sustainable food
Climate Kitchen feels like a natural progression for Baird and her family. Eilish frequently uses her platform to highlight climate-friendly food choices. During her recent Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, several major stadiums offered more plant-based options or even fully vegan menus during her residency. Each stop also hosted Eco-Action Villages, designed to engage and educate fans about climate-related causes and nonprofits.
Support+Feed was also a key part of the tour, appearing regularly in the Eco Villages and organizing food drives at several stops in partnership with local nonprofits.
For WETA, which is producing the series as part of its public health-focused multi-platform initiative Well Beings, Baird is a natural fit.

“Maggie Baird is an extraordinary partner for public media audiences,” said Tom Chiodo, WETA’s executive producer of special projects in national productions. “Climate Kitchen is dedicated to showing how every person can make a healthy difference in their own lives, as well as the lives of their family and community—one recipe, one meal, or household hack at a time.”
“Maggie’s relatable approach will be refreshing to audiences of all ages, meeting them where they are, and helping them to institute incremental changes that will make a difference for all of us, including future generations,” he added.
Climate Kitchen will begin production this year and is set to air in 2027.
