True Blood Star Speaks Out for Shelter Animals
True Blood actress Kristin Bauer van Straten talks about the close relationship she has with her rescued four-legged companion.
July 21, 2013
Actress Kristin Bauer van Straten of True Blood teamed up with the Best Friends Animal Society in a public service announcement video for the No-Kill Los Angeles initiative to dispel the negative stereotypes about shelter animals. Bauer van Straten, who has long been an outspoken advocate for animal-welfare, appears in the video with the companion dog she rescued nearly five years ago who was brought to a shelter after living on the streets of Los Angeles for two years. “He and I have a connection and I could not face the possibility of not living with him and having him be my friend,” she says. “And I think, ‘Wow the shelters are full of guys like this.’”
