Walking Dead and Boondock Saints star Norman Reedus teamed up with animal advocacy organization Cruelty-Free National to ban animal-tested cosmetics in the United States. “Nobody wants rabbits or guinea pigs to suffer for our vanity, least of all the animals,” says Reedus. “Let’s stop their suffering right here, right now. Join me in supporting the Cruelty Free International call to Congress and the FDA to bring an end to animal testing for cosmetics in the U.S.” Although animal testing is not required by law, some makeup companies use small animals such as guinea pigs and rabbits to conduct tests that range from eye irritation trials to force feeding the animals to see if any illnesses occur. The movement to end the cosmetic testing experienced a landmark victory in March when the European Union banned the sale of the inhumane products.
