Mainstream media outlet USA Today recently published a piece on its website that spotlights 10 restaurants in the United States and Canada that specialize in meat-free cuisine. The list, which was compiled by Brian Clement, co-director of the Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, FL, includes Los Angeles’ Mediterranean-inspired Crossroads Kitchen, the ubiquitous Candle Cafe in New York, as well as San Francisco’s fine dining hotspot Millennium. “These are real restaurants and real people would like them,” says Clement. “They’re not tofu and rice joints.” The Hippocrates director also recognized raw food eatery Cafe Gratitude, which has locations throughout California, and Montreal’s Crudessence, which puts a vegan twist on traditional French fare.
