Vegan restaurant chain Native Foods Café owners Daniel Dolan and Andrea McGinty have national ambitions for their business—last April the company announced that it wanted to open restaurants in Dallas, Denver, and Washington D.C. Now, with the help of a $15 million investment from two private-equity firms, a cross-country takeover has become a reality for Dolan and McGinty. According to Nation’s Restaurant News, Native is slated to open 12 to 14 new locations in 2014 (which may include five Washington D.C. sites), an additional 20 to 30 locations in 2015, and within the next five years, the company is striving to have 200 locations total. Native may have started in California, but its Chicago restaurants have achieved the greatest financial success, proving that the rest of America may be ready for its first major vegan restaurant chain. “We always felt this was a national concept,” said Dolan to NRN.
