Veganz, the German-based cruelty-free supermarket chain, is planning a massive expansion that will include locations in Vienna, London, Amsterdam, Zurich, Bacelona, Milan, and Copenhagen, as well as a shopping center in Portland, OR. Veganz founder Jan Bredack was inspired to create the plant-based business when he traveled to Russia, Scandanavia, and the US and discovered a variety of vegan foods, but found it a challenge to shop as freely and easily as omnivores, so he opened his first location in Berlin in 2011, and since then Bredack has made it his mission for Veganz customers to want for nothing. “It should be really simple,” he told The Local. “People shouldn’t have to cut out anything.” The Portland Veganz shopping center is slated to open in 2016, and it will include a clothing store and a restaurant.
