Popular Brands of Peanut and Almond Butters Recalled
MaraNatha, Arrowhead Mills, and private-label brands are affected by international recall.
August 20, 2014
nSpired Natural Foods, makers of popular nut butter brands like MaraNatha and Arrowhead Mills, has issued an international recall due to Salmonella concerns. The voluntary recall for its peanut and almond butters—which includes private label jars under the Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Kroger, and Safeway brands—was made after four incidents of Salmonella were reported to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The potentially contaminated products were distributed across the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, Dominican Republic, and through online sales.
