Washington, DC’s annual outdoor celebration of all things veg will take place this Saturday, September 20 at Yards Park. Now in its sixth year, host-organization Compassion Over Killing is expecting 15,000 attendees at the vegan festival—which will feature 100 exhibits offering up food samples and animal-free merchandise. In addition, there will be speakers (including radio personality Robin Quivers, Washington Post Food Editor Joe Yonan, and cookbook author Bryant Terry), activities for kids, and cooking demonstrations. The festival is free, open to the public, and serves as a forum to educate people on the health, environmental, and ethical benefits of plant-based living. Festivities begin at 11am, and the first 1,000 people will receive a free commemorative tote bag.
