Berkeley, CA-based Factory Farming Awareness Coalition (FFAC) has launched a campaign on Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) encouraging commuters to ditch the dairy. Focusing on the environmental and ethical implications of drinking milk, ads include a comparison of the amount of water saved from skipping milk or skipping showers—with a reminder that fellow BART riders would appreciate everyone showering. The ads are being run on 120 BART cars and in 40 BART stations, and invite the public to text the organization for dairy-free recipes. FFAC is the recipient of a $50,000 advertising grant for the campaign, and has won this grant for the past three years. The non-profit works to provide factory farming educational programs in schools, community organizations, and corporate offices throughout the country.
