In a special nutrition-themed issue of Runner’s World magazine, Boston-based Micah Risk graces the October cover of the mainstream publication—which has a readership of 660,000. Micah is a mom, nutritionist, and vegan, and sports a pair of “vegan” socks on the magazine cover to draw attention to how food choices can affect performance. “Being vegan is the best way to fuel my body,” says Risk, who works to educate women on the power of good nutrition through the new startup, Lighter. Risk will be speaking on plant-based nutrition at the DC VegFest on September 20.
