In an effort to promote coexistence, Israeli restaurant Humus Bar implemented a 50 percent discount on plates of hummus shared by Jewish and Arab diners. In a Facebook post in Hebrew, the restaurant stated, “We don’t have Arabs! But we also don’t have Jews … we’ve got human beings.” According to The Times of Israel, since the October 13 launch of the offer, the campaign has successfully brought together several Jewish and Arab diners. Restaurant manager Kobi Tzafrir said the restaurant has excellent Arab hummus and Jewish falafel, and believes that “if there’s anything that can bring together these peoples, it’s hummus.”
