PETA Grades US College Campuses on Veg-Friendliness
Evaluated by criteria such as non-dairy milk options and vegan student advisory board members, an increasing number of schools are getting passing grades.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) recently published its annual Vegan Report Card, which assess and grades submissions and dining-hall menus at thousands of US colleges. Noteworthy is the fact that the number of colleges and universities with A ratings have more than doubled since the feature’s inception in 2013, and those with B ratings have more than tripled. The University of North Texas received an A+ ranking thanks to its all-vegan dining hall Mean Greens, equipped with self-serve soy milk dispensers, sustainable china service ware in place of disposable trays, and food ranging from made-to-order paninis to crispy rice marshmallow treats. With recent surveys indicating the number of veg college students having risen 50 percent over the past 10 years, it would seem campuses will only see vegan options flourish in the future.
