A Washington state landlord is offering prospective tenants a discount on rent if they’re either vegetarian or vegan. Jinesh Varia’s three bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom luxury townhouse in Bothell, WA is on the market for $2,200 a month, but herbivores can get at $200 discount by practicing a cruelty-free lifestyle. “Ethically and morally, it’s extremely important to be vegetarian,” Varia, who hopes to make vegan-housing discounts a trend, said. “I really believe, just like the no-smoking policy that all landlords have today, that we can promote this as a way to spread awareness.”
