According to the Oregonian, a refrigerated truck filled with tofu and fresh juice was stolen last week from a Southeast Portland Safeway supermarket when its driver went into the store briefly. The truck—owned by Seattle-based R&K Foods—was recovered later that day but the soybean swindlers managed to get away with its contents. According to an eye-witness report, a man and woman were seen leaving the truck, but there’s no sign of the missing tofu. While we at VegNews do not condone theft, this crime of passion is a testament to the popularity of vegan food in Portland, OR.
