According to website Care2, the top five best American cities for veganism are Portland, OR, New York City, Austin, Seattle, and Los Angeles. The City of Roses was lauded for its 30 fully-vegan food establishments and, interestingly, what might be the country’s only vegan strip club. New York City came in second thanks to an expansive variety of restaurants, ranging from the fancy and elite to fast casual, while MooShoes also received a mention for keeping New Yorkers stylish and cruelty-free year-round. Austin was touted for its slew of veg-friendly food trucks and for acting as a refuge for vegans in a notoriously meat-loving state. Seattle’s emphasis on plant-based, healthy lifestyles, restaurant Plum Vegan Bistro, and fully-vegan grocery store Vegan Haven pushed “America’s Fittest City” onto the list, while Los Angeles received praise for serving Angelenos everything from fresh, raw cuisine to cheesy ballpark eats.
