Vegan ice cream made from cold-pressed avocados is currently available in nine states across the Midwest. Created by a family business named Cado Desserts, three flavors—Deep Dark Chocolate, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Simply Lemon—can be found in 90 stores, including 40 Whole Foods Markets. Cado Desserts—which also produces Shaktea kombucha—was inspired to create this new vegan ice cream because it “has always been passionate about crafting healthier, minimally-processed foods and superfood products,” co-founder Meghan Dowd, said. The brand is currently experimenting with ice cream sandwiches and bars, new flavors such as Orange Dream, Mexican Cocoa, Mocha Chip, Matcha Green Tea, and Pistachio, and plans to expand nationwide in 2017.
